Meet Our Doctors

Dr. Steve Edwards

Born and raised in Water Valley, Dr. Edwards proudly serves the community he calls home. He completed his undergraduate studies at Mississippi College before earning his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern College of Optometry.

Board-certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry, Dr. Edwards has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to excellence in patient care and professional leadership. Two governors have appointed him to serve two terms on the Mississippi State Board of Optometry and served as Board President, a testament to the trust and respect he has earned within the profession.

Deeply invested in the future of optometry, Dr. Edwards serves as an adjunct faculty member at the Southern College of Optometry, helping educate and mentor the next generation of doctors. His dedication to the field has been recognized with the Optometrist of the Year — the highest honor presented by the Mississippi Optometric Association. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometric Medicine and Surgery and maintains active membership in both the Mississippi Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.

Outside of his professional accomplishments, Dr. Edwards is a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Water Valley and the Water Valley Lions Club. He enjoys spending his spare time outdoors and remains actively engaged in community service initiatives that strengthen and support the communities he serves.

Dr. Hunter Edwards

Dr. Hunter Edwards is a licensed optometrist and a proud native of Water Valley, Mississippi. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Mississippi State University before pursuing his Doctor of Optometry degree at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee.

Dr. Edwards brings a unique analytical and problem-solving approach to patient care, blending his engineering background with advanced clinical training to deliver precise, comprehensive eye care. He currently serves patients in Water Valley, Holly Springs, and Hernando, providing thorough examinations, medical eye care, and personalized treatment solutions.

Dr. Edwards recently married his bride, Rachel, who teaches algebra at Lafayette High School. They reside together in Oxford with their beloved dog, Cooper.

He is an active member of the Mississippi Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, and the Water Valley Lions Club, reflecting his commitment to both professional excellence and community service.

Dr. Taylor Edwards

Taylor Edwards is a licensed optometrist from Water Valley, MS.

He attended Water Valley High School and went on to receive a football scholarship from Troy University, where he majored in Exercise Science. He has since graduated from Southern College of Optometry and practices in Senatobia, Water Valley, and Holly Springs.

He is married to his high school sweetheart, Madison Edwards, and has 2 daughters: Sloan and Hazel. Dr. Taylor is passionate about serving the many communities he is lucky to be a part of.

Dr. Sarah Thrower

Dr. Sarah Thrower, is a dedicated optometrist and partner at Magnolia Eye Group, committed to advancing ocular health and expanding access to quality eye care across North Mississippi. She earned a degree in Biomedical Engineering from Mississippi State University and Doctor of Optometry from the Southern College of Optometry, Dr. Thrower combines clinical excellence with a passion for community impact.

As an active member of the Mississippi Optometric Association, she mentors future optometrists and advocates for legislative advancements that strengthen and protect the profession. Her dedication to early detection and preventative care is evident through her involvement in school vision screenings and the InfantSEE program, where she provides comprehensive eye assessments for infants at no cost to families.

Dr. Thrower is also deeply engaged in community leadership and service. She empowers children and supports local families through the Junior Auxiliary of DeSoto County, mentors young girls at Colonial Hills Church, and supports civic and economic development through membership in the Senatobia Rotary and the Hernando Lion’s Club.

A devoted wife to Hunter Thrower and proud mother to Holland and John Shepherd, Dr. Thrower balances her cherished family life with her unwavering mission to uplift her community and advance the field of optometry.

Dr. Bailey Kargo

Dr. Bailey Kargo is a North Carolina native and former Division I basketball player at the University of Delaware. Driven by a passion for science and patient care, she graduated summa cum laude from the Southern College of Optometry, where she developed a strong interest in ocular disease and the medical management of eye health. She went on to complete her residency training at the Memphis VA Medical Center, gaining advanced clinical experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of ocular diseases, with particular focus on posterior segment pathology.

Dr. Kargo brings her knowledge, clinical skill, and compassionate approach to full-scope medical optometry with Magnolia Eye Group. She is passionate about building meaningful relationships with patients while helping serve the communities of Holly Springs and Senatobia, Mississippi.

Dr. Frank Evans

Dr. Frank Evans, Jr. attended Water Valley High School, the University of MS, and Southern College of Optometry, finishing with degrees of Bachelor of Sciences in Biology and Doctorate of Optometry.

Since graduation, Dr. Evans has been a member of the American Optometric Association and the Mississippi Optometric Association (MOA), serving in various positions in the MOA, including Legislative Chair and President of the Association.

Dr. Evans has been practicing in Calhoun City since 1976 and attended his 50th-year graduation ceremony at SCO in 2026. The practice was acquired by Magnolia Eye Group in January 2026 where he remains in practice along with Dr. Taylor Edwards.

Dr. CF Hyman

Meet Dr. C.F. Hyman, an experienced and compassionate Advanced Practice Optometric Physician dedicated to providing exceptional eye care to his patients. A proud graduate of West Memphis High School, Dr. Hyman also served in the United States Air Reserve before pursuing his passion for healthcare and science.

He earned his degree in Zoology from Arkansas State University and went on to graduate from Southern College of Optometry.

Dr. Hyman has been married to his high school sweetheart for more than 50 years. Together, they have a daughter, quadruplet sons, and five grandchildren who are the pride and joy of their family. His strong family values and dedication to serving others continue to shape the compassionate care he provides to his patients each day.

Known for his experience, commitment, and warm personality, Dr. Hyman is passionate about helping patients achieve and maintain healthy vision through personalized, high-quality eye care.

Dr. Tyler Renfrow

Dr. Tyler Renfrow is a licensed optometrist dedicated to providing the highest level of care to every patient. He is committed to combining the latest advances in the eyecare world with a compassionate and patient-centered approach.

A Mississippi native, Dr. Renfrow was raised in Columbus before moving to DeSoto County in middle school. He went on to obtain his Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from Mississippi State University before receiving his Doctor of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry. He now proudly calls Hernando home and is honored to care for the patients in his home community.

Committed to advancing the profession of optometry, Dr. Renfrow is an active member of both the Mississippi Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. Through his involvement and service on multiple committees in the Mississippi Optometric Association, Dr. Renfrow helps guide and support optometry students and new graduates as they begin their careers.

Outside of the office, Dr. Renfrow enjoys exercising, playing golf, and cheering on his Mississippi State Bulldogs. He is married to Dr. Kristin Renfrow and is the proud father of their daughter, Morie Kate.

Dr. Renfrow is grateful for the opportunity to serve patients of North Mississippi and looks forward to helping his patients achieve and maintain healthy vision for years to come.
