Meet Our Doctors
Born and raised in Water Valley, Dr. Edwards did his undergraduate studies at Mississippi College and received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry.
Dr. Edwards is board certified by the National Board of Examiners of Optometry and has been appointed by 2 governors to serve on the Mississippi State Board of Optometry. He is very involved in the education of future doctors and is an adjunct faculty member of Southern College of Optometry.
He has received the Mississippi Optometric Association’s highest honor, the “Optometrist of the Year” award. He fills his spare time with hunting activities and community service.
Hunter Edwards is a licensed optometrist from Water Valley, MS, and received a mechanical engineering degree from Mississippi State University.
He earned his doctorate from Southern College of Optometry and practices in Water Valley, Holly Springs, and Senatobia.
Dr. Hunter is an active member of the Water Valley Lions Club and serves on the board of the Water Valley Chamber of Commerce.
Taylor Edwards is a licensed optometrist from Water Valley, MS.
He attended Water Valley High School and went on to receive a football scholarship from Troy University, where he majored in Exercise Science. He has since graduated from Southern College of Optometry and practices in Senatobia, Water Valley, and Holly Springs.
He is married to his high school sweetheart, Madison Edwards, and has 2 daughters: Sloan and Hazel. Dr. Taylor is passionate about serving the many communities he is lucky to be a part of.
Dr. Sarah Thrower is a licensed optometrist from Meridian, MS and is an active member within the American Optometric Association and the Mississippi Optometric Association. Dr. Thrower’s academic journey began at Mississippi State University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2019. Not only did she excel academically, but she was also the recipient of the Spirit of Mississippi State Award in the same year.
Dr. Thrower furthered her education at the Southern College of Optometry, earning her Doctorate of Optometry Cum Laude in 2023. During her time there, she was honored with the Southern Council of Optometrist Clinical Excellence Award.
In addition to her formal education, Dr. Thrower gained valuable experience during an externship at Memphis VA, where her focus was on ocular disease. Her areas of expertise and interest within the field of optometry are vast, including glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, dry eye, lid lesion removals, YAG laser procedures, and specialty contact lenses.
The most fulfilling aspect of her job, as identified by Dr. Thrower, is the ability to create lasting relationships with patients while treating their ocular conditions with a high attention to detail.
Beyond her medical interests, Dr. Thrower enjoys spending quality time with her husband and daughter. She is an active participant in her church’s events and dedicates her time to serving within her community. Traveling, rock climbing, mountain biking, and camping are among her favorite hobbies.
