The Magnolia Story
Our story begins in Water Valley, Mississippi, with Dr. Steve Edwards, who saw a future need in his community due to his local optometrist, Dr. Edgar, nearing retirement. Dr. Steve Edwards pursued optometry to ensure his community would maintain access to quality vision and healthcare. He purchased the practice from Dr. Edgar in 1990, and Tri Lake Eye Clinic was born.
After 15 years of practice, he saw a need to expand into other rural areas of Mississippi to allow people accessible, quality eye care. He founded Holly Springs Eyecare and has served Marshall County for 20 years. After his sons, Dr. Hunter Edwards and Dr. Taylor Edwards graduated from Southern College of Optometry, he added a third practice founded by a longtime member of the Tate County community, Dr. Glenn Goldring.
Magnolia Eye Group has taken the baton and carries on the same standard of care that Dr. Goldring had provided since 1979. With all 3 locations being spread throughout the North Mississippi area, we want our patients to feel welcome and comfortable to receive quality care at any location they visit. So, Magnolia Eye Group’s name will be adopted at each location.
The magnolia flower has become a symbol of unity in this state, and we want to unify our locations in that same spirit. This has been, and will remain, a family practice that treats every patient as a member of that family.

Her areas of expertise and interest within the field of optometry are vast, including glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, dry eye, lid lesion removals, YAG laser procedures, and specialty contact lenses.
The most fulfilling aspect of her job, as identified by Dr. Thrower, is the ability to create lasting relationships with patients while treating their ocular conditions with a high attention to detail.
